A&B Machine Shop was founded in 1943 by Roy Baumgardt. He was a very determined and driven man. He sold his car to buy a new lathe, and pulled parts in a coaster wagon through the snow during two very cold winters. His tenacity paid off. He was able to buy the building where A&B Machine Shop is still currently today. Over 70 years later!
Tim, Roy's only son, started in the shop with his father as a young man. He quickly learned how to operate the machines and became quite the skilled machinist as well. Roy and Tim went on to found Rockford Carbide in 1987.
Tim's daughter Liz started in the shop in 1999, and immediately began following in both Roy and Tim's footsteps. Liz is responsible for all of the day-to-day operations of the business and is also able to run all the machinery in the shop. As she proves everyday.
